The Mont Albert Cricket Club are saddened to hear of the passing of club great Brian Kann. Brian played 126 games for MACC (mostly in the 1960s and 70s) and last played for the club in 1990-91.
Brian was a left handed batsman who scored 3963 runs at an average of 31.2, with 5 centuries and a highest score of 150. He bowled a mixture of leg breaks and googlies and took 71 wickets at 20.1.
He topped the first XI batting average on 5 occasions (1963-64, 64-65, 69-70, 70-71 and 71-72) as well as the association averages in 71-72. Of particular note, Brian was club coach, leading the first XI to back to back premierships in 1961-62 and 62-63 as well as a further premiership in 1965-66.
Our condolences to Brian’s grandson (and current player) Nick and to the extended Kann family.
